Necessity of Fragility

Necessity of Fragility

Is a deeply immersive, multi-sensory installation by Lost Few unfolding at The MEMO in Healesville from October to December 2025

Blending spatial multi-channel sound, projection, light, scent and touchThis large-scale work invites audiences in to a space where grief and healing intertwine

Delicate floral sculptures serve as both physical and symbolic elements, echoing themes of impermanence, memory and renewal

Born from personal loss, the project uses art as a vessel for transformation, reflecting the artist’s journey following the passing of his sister through suicide.

Through layered soundscapes, shifting light and ephemeral scents, Necessity of Fragility explores how we process trauma, how we hold onto memory and how art can guide us through the delicate balance of pain and renewal

This exhibition invites you to step into vulnerability, to reflect and to find connection through shared experience

About the Artist

Hannah on Quad tattoo

Dave Thomson (LOST FEW) is a musician and multi-sensory artist

whose work exists at the intersection of sound, video, sculpture, scent, and light.

He creates immersive spatial environments that explore the body’s relationship to emotion, memory, and physical space.

Guided by a heightened sensory awareness, Dave’s work is deeply attuned to sound, rhythm, and spatial detail.

His practice is driven by a need to make sense of the world through non-verbal, embodied forms, creating works that are both technically complex and emotionally charged.

Art, for Dave, is expressive and therapeutic:

a means of processing trauma, grief, and sensory experience.

He frequently builds complex, multi-channel audio systems that intertwine with digital art, light, and visual forms, and incorporates custom scents derived from the natural environments he inhabits.

These multi-sensory worlds invite audiences to sit within the work itself, to experience it as something sculptural, luminous, and profoundly immersive
